Oli Montsacer La Bisbal de Falset
The oil from the Cooperativa de La Bisbal de Falset has a maximum acidity of 0.3º. Due to its low alcohol content, it is a mild oil, but at the same time fruity, aromatic and tasty, due to its first cold pressing.
Its raw consumption allows us to appreciate the characteristics in all its breadth, while its use in the kitchen enhances the flavor of food, without hiding it but giving it a unique and special touch.
Visits
Our visiting hours are from Monday to Sunday from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm and from 3:00 pm to 6:00 p.m., to be always a concerted visit. We only visit the months of November, December and mid-January, which is when there is a campaign and you can see the whole elaboration process.
The Cooperative
The origins go back more than seventy years ago when there were five mills in the town and the farmers sold them the olives. In the absence of a good distribution network, many people abandoned the activity linked to oil. Then it was when the inhabitants of La Bisbal de Falset decided to buy the Molino del Fuster. This is how the Cooperative was born in 1951.
The Cooperative is currently in the center of La Bisbal de Falset, a small town in the Priorat region in contact with the Ribera de l'Ebre and very close to Les Garrigues. The territory is drained by the Montsant River (in Latin Montsacer) that gives name to the mountain that shelters the town, at more than 372 meters of altitude.
Montsacer aims to be a tribute to this territory, to which both should thank, and the attributes that characterize it: the fusion of tradition and history with the idea of natural and healthy product.
