May 18: International Day of Museums in Catalonia

This month we propose a very different route. A route that you will do yourself, as your interest!
As you know, on May 18 is the International Museum Day (organized by ICOM), so that different activities (workshops, guided tours, performances...) and open days in museums in Catalonia are made. So, your admission is free. Most museums make this extensible International Museum Day weekend closest to May 18.
We leave a sample of some distributed throughout Catalonia museums.

Having explained this, is see what the museums that most interest you, take the car and lazarse! We suggest you a small selection of museums grouped by province, and you decide to visit them.
Museums in Barcelona
Chocolate Museum
Barcelona. The Chocolate Museum presents a journey through the origins of chocolate, its arrival in Europe and its dissemination as an element located between myth and reality, between the medicinal and therapeutic properties and nutritional value, linking tradition and future that are part of our collective imagination. www.pastisseria.cat
National Museum of Science and Technology of Catalonia
Terrassa. For those of you who like science and ye know the industrialization that took place in Catalonia during the fourteenth century you have the mNACTEC. This museum has its headquarters in Terrassa, where you will find a fantastic exhibition, but also has other museums scattered Catalonia, some of which I discuss below. http://www.mnactec.cat
Capellades Paper Mill Museum
Capellades. The Capellades Paper Mill Museum is one of the most important museums on the role internationally. Located in a former paper mill of the eighteenth century is a living museum where paper is still produced handmade. It has some important collections of machinery, papers and documents dating from the thirteenth and twentieth centuries. The museum plays an important cultural activity of energizing the role in all areas. This museum is part of mNATEC. www.mmp-capellades.net
Museum of Colonia Vidal Puig-Reig
Puig-Reig. La Colonia Vidal is one of the textiles colonies that were installed at the foot of the Llobregat river during the last third of the nineteenth century and early twentieth century to use water as their source of energy. He took the last space left free between Navas and Berga, the area where the main concentration of colonies in Europe was created. From the moment the closure of the factory, new ideas point to an equity revaluation finding new uses for the facilities and so comes a museum that explains what life was like in their colonies. Museo de les Mines Cercs
Cercs. The Museu de les Mines de Cercs is another proposal that is sure to thrill young and old, this is an interpretation center dedicated to coal mining Berguedà. The museum consists of four spaces open to the public in this first phase: the permanent exhibition halls where shows what life was like at the bottom of the mine and the characteristics and uses of coal; a floor of the colony in the forties; the audiovisual room, and 450 meters from Sant Romà gallery where, through a mining train, you can see how it was working inside the galleries. Finally, visitors can stroll around the mining colony and its sphere of influence. This museum is part of mNATEC. Website
History Museum of Catalonia
Barcelona . The Catalonia History Museum and exhibits the history of Catalonia as a collective heritage, preserving the objects related to it and to strengthen citizens' identification with national history.
It also consists of a set of monuments that are scattered around the country
Archaeology Museum of Catalonia
The Archaeology Museum of Catalonia (MAC) conserves, researches and disseminates the archaeological remains that illustrate the historical evolution, from prehistoric to medieval times of Catalonia. It consists of the archaeological museums of Barcelona and Girona, the Greco-Roman city of Empúries, the historic site of Olèrdola, the Iberian archaeological site of Ullastret, and the Centre for Underwater Archaeology of Catalonia (CASC).
The MAC also offers Rock Art Route and Route of the Iberians.

Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya
Barcelona . To all those you enjoy art, and those who have done the route discovers the world of Romanesque Boi Valley, you can not miss the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya (MNAC), where you will find all the arts ( sculpture, painting, objets d'art, drawings, engravings, cartels, collection of photography i coinage) from Romanesque to mid-twentieth century. Besides works of the country, also you find great works of international masters. www.mnac.cat
Agbar Water Museum
Cornella de Llobregat. This proposal could not miss a museum that we speak of something as prized as water. The museum presents Agbar water and brings us closer to it through various activities and workshops. This is therefore a fascinating museum to learn about the processes by passing water from source to tap exiting the house and starts a new cycle.
The museum is housed in a modernist building from the early twentieth century, designed by architect Josep Samaranch Amargós. www.museuagbar.com

Toy Museum of Catalonia
Figueres. For all those fans collecting, or those who simply trasportaros ye back to your childhood, we recommend the Toy Museum of Catalonia. A collection of more than 4,000 toys (Meccans, cardboard horses, kitchens, tops, cars, airplanes, and so on), where you can recall good times through some of your favorite toys, almost forgotten, and perhaps here you can find. www.mjc.cat
Girona Film Museum
Gerona . This is one of the few museums where you can take a trip through 500 years of history of images, and learn about the beginnings of cinema until the arrival of television. Cork Museum of Palafrugell
Palafrugell. The Cork Museum of Palafrugell is a very interesting and educational for all processes there since the cork oak is cut until a cap is placed in a bottle proposal. Battle Studies Center of the Ebro
