Winter Festival of San Vicente and arrival of the Pilgrim in Tossa de Mar
The Festival of San Vicente returns in Tossa de Mar. The people are involved in the organization of the party where they will find concerts, dances, children's shows, sardanas and many other activities!
We must also highlight the arrival of Father Peregrino, who will be accompanied by the Cobla La Llama de Farners.
As the date of January 20 - day of San Sebastian - approaches, Tossa de Mar is preparing to fulfill, one more year, an ancestral promise: the Vow of the People, popularly known as El Peregrino.
Tradition says that the plague fell upon the city and the inhabitants asked for the intercession of San Sebastian, promising that they would all go on a pilgrimage to their nearest chapel. The epidemic disappeared and the villagers fulfilled their vote.
Years later, they asked for and received ecclesiastical authorization to send a single man representing all the people to Santa Coloma de Farners. That is how the Pilgrim was born... and that is how it has continued to this day.
On January 21, Padre Peregrino returns to Tossa and the procession through the streets of the village.
