Torroella de Fluvià
The town of Torroella de Fluvià is the main core of the municipality with an extension of 16.85 km, which includes land of the Empordà alluvial plain.
The Fluvià River is the southern boundary of the term, near its left bank, the town of Torroella is located.
The municipality also includes the towns of Santo Tomás de Fluvià and Vilacolum and the old places of Palol de Fluvià, La Guardia and Sant Martí de Canyà, the first two present neighbors and the last one disappeared as a town. The Sirvent irrigation, an important artificial irrigation channel used for irrigation, is, in a section of its layout, the northern limit of the territory.
The western part of the area is slightly bumpy with hills and hills of soft shapes and very low elevation, which in different places are covered with low shrubs and bushes and some enlightened oak forests.
In the flattest part of the municipality there is some irrigated area. The rest is dedicated to rainfed agriculture. Livestock still represents one of the activities of the inhabitants of Torroella de Fluvià; hence, forages are one of the most widespread crops.
