Susqueda

Susqueda is a municipality located in the region of La Selva, within the province of Girona. It consists of a very unique municipality because it has no town, since it has remained under the waters of the reservoir since it was built. However, the municipality is made up of three different neighborhoods that stand out for their nature and unique landscapes: El Far, El Coll and Sant Martí Sacalm.

Lighthouse Neighborhood

The Sanctuary of the Far is located on the edge of a riscal at 1,123 while altitude, in a strategic situation and visible from many places. From it you can enjoy extraordinary views of the reservoir, Les Guilleries and Collsacabra.

What to do or what to see in the neighborhood of the Lighthouse?

Being located in a mountainous area you can do many routes on foot:

• PR-222 of the Lighthouse in Sant Benet
• Go from Sant Martí Sacalm to Far and return to Sant Martí
• The grade of Santa Ana or the ascent from the Goleró
• The path of the Shelf or the Trona
• The route of the enchanted rocks

In addition, when visiting the neighborhood of the Lighthouse, it is absolutely essential to visit the Sanctuary of the Virgen del Faro (11th century) from which you can enjoy magnificent views of the Reservoir, the Riscos de Tavertet and the Guilleries among many others.

Coll neighborhood

The Coll neighborhood is located from 850 meters above sea level offering privileged views of the Guilleries, Collsacabra, the Susqueda reservoir and the Vall d'Osor.

Neighborhood of Sant Martí Sacalm and the reservoir

The church of Sant Martí Sacalm is located at an altitude of 806 meters under the Riscal del Faro and offers panoramic views of the Riscal. The Susqueda reservoir is located in the middle of the Guilleries.
