Preixens

Province: Lleida | Shire: La Noguera | Inhabitants: 478 | Extension: 28,7 Km2 | Altitude: 315 m

In the Sió river valley, between Balaguer and Agramunt, is the municipality of Preixens, one of the places in Noguera that has best preserved its rural atmosphere and its medieval heritage. Its position, on an important communication route during the Middle Ages, caused the sites that were formed at various points in these lands to develop rapidly.

From that time, three population centers have remained: Preixens, Pradell and Les Ventoses. The three were formed from a fortress around which the respective towns grew. All three maintain vestiges and buildings from that time: castles, walls or churches. Preixens is rich in cultural heritage and is a good example of this to discover what life was like almost a millennium ago in these counties.
