Camós
Camós is a municipality located to the southwest of the Pla de l'Estany region, comprising the entire Matamors valley, a tributary of the Terri. The municipal term is formed by two population entities such as Sant Vicenç de Camós, the most populated, and Santa Maria de Camós, to the south.
Camós is an ancient town, as evidenced by the important finds from the Roman era in the Vil·la Romana de Vilauba. To find the first written reference to the name of Camós we must go back more than a thousand years, specifically to a document dated between the years 1019-1020.
The municipal area occupies a good part of a high mountain range that, on both sides, the water runs towards the Ter basin. The Matamors stream in the Camós plain and, on the south side, the Remençà and a part of the Revardit stream that irrigate the Santa María area.
