Sea Otter Europe, Costa Brava - Girona 2025: The largest cycling festival in Southern Europe

The sports program maintains a comprehensive and diverse offering for all types of cycling enthusiasts, with new events for the world's best specialists and the continuation of some legendary competitions for amateurs and families.
From September 19th to 21st, Girona will once again be the nerve center of world cycling with the ninth edition of the Sea Otter Europe Costa Brava-Girona by Garmin, held at the Fontajau Pavilion. After breaking participation records at the last edition, the event is heading towards a new milestone. Once again this year, Sea Otter Europe lands in Girona and the Costa Brava, areas recognized worldwide as cycling paradises.
A weekend full of cycles and emotions
Friday 19/09 - The starting gun is fired
The competition kicks off on Friday afternoon with the Eliminator, a dynamic and spectacular format that draws everyone's attention. After the qualifying heats, the grand finale arrives. This is followed by the Short Track in the Mobility Zone, a short, intense, and exciting race that will bring the first day of the festival to a high-energy close.
Saturday 20/09 - The competitive epicenter of the festival
Saturday starts off with a packed morning of competition. The day begins with the Shimano Super Cup Massi, which counts toward the Catalan International BTT Cup Biking Point. It's one of the most renowned XCO circuits in the world, regularly featuring top international riders. This will be the last event on the calendar and, therefore, decisive for the final classification.
The 226ERS UCI Gravel World Series Sea Otter Europe Girona Costa Brava will also take place, the final qualifying event for the World Championships. Both gravel stars and amateur cyclists will compete in age categories.
The Youth Super Cup will focus on the values of sport and focus on young riders, while the MTB Classic will take a trip back in time with mountain bikes from the 1980s and 1990s. The day will end with a strong finish at the Spanish Eliminator Championship.
Sunday 09/21 - The grand finale for everyone
Sunday kicks off with the Ciclobrava by Orbea, the festival's most popular event. It's an open and fun cycling tour that lets you enjoy the spectacular roads of the Costa Brava and Gavarres.
At the same time, one of the star competitions is getting underway: La Tramun, a race that counts toward the Marathon World Cup, with the start in the Llanuras de Hostoles. A demanding and renowned route that brings together the elite of Cross Country Marathon (XCM). Fans can also participate in the Open category, without competing.
For those who prefer a more accessible challenge, the SCOTT Marathon BTT offers two distances (long and short), and two modalities: Pro (with license) and Open (without license).
In addition, there will be complementary spaces such as the Continental Gravel Ride Tour, the Mini DH—spectacular descents for the youngest riders—and the Girona Trial Cup, where participants' skills will be tested as they overcome obstacles.
Girona and the Costa Brava, cycling capital
The Shimano Sea Otter Costa Brava Gerona by Garmin reaffirms its place as one of the benchmark cycling festivals in Europe, sharing the spotlight with the growing Euro Mobility Festival.
A unique combination of elite competitions, popular events, bike tests, trade shows, activities for professionals and families, and a clear commitment to sustainability and active tourism. All of this makes Girona and the Costa Brava much more than just a stage: they are the true epicenter of a major celebration of international cycling.
