Santa Coloma d'Andorra

Andorra | Parishe: Parròquia d'Andorra la Vella | Inhabitants: 2.979 |

Santa Coloma is a population center of the Principality of Andorra located in the Parish of Andorra la Vella.

Like the rest of the parish, the preserved historical data is very general. It is known that Santa Coloma was exchanged in the 10th century by Borrell II for other territories in Cerdanya and Alt Urgell, possessions of the Bishop of Urgell. It was the primitive parish of Andorra, as it appears in the act of consecration of the Seu d'Urgell.

The town is well known for its pre-Romanesque parish church of Santa Coloma, mentioned as early as 839, with the cylindrical bell tower constituting its most prominent feature. The historic complex of Santa Coloma, including its church and that of San Vicente de Enclar, was proposed as a World Heritage Site in 1999 in the category of cultural heritage.
