Prats i Sansor

Located in the lower part of Cerdanya, to the left of the Segre river, on both sides of the regional road that joins Bellver de Cerdanya and Alp. It is the smallest municipality in the region. It is located on the historical and geographical limits (by the Saig pass ) between the small ( La Batllia ) and the great Cerdanya. Since 1833, Prats y Sansor has been integrated into the provincial demarcation of Lleida.

The municipality is made up of three population centers.

The town of Prats is located at 1,124 m. It is located on the plain, but next to the slope of the tertiary terrace of Urús. Center of the municipality, where the Town Hall, the school, the doctor's office, the social premises are located. Area with old country houses, some restored and modern homes.

It is worth mentioning the hermitage of San Salvador. It is a small sanctuary that was built on top of a hill where you can see one of the best views of the plains of Cerdanya and the town hall.

The first documentary quote that speaks of Prats dates back to the year 982 and calls her Pratis. It is a Latin toponym that would refer to "a place where grass is allowed to grow for cattle grazing" or to an "extension of land abundantly irrigated directly by a source". Later documents speak of Prats as a fortified place at all times.

sansor

Sansor which is located at 1068m. It is located in the middle of the plain, in the Pla de la Ribera and near the Tossal de Balltarga, it still preserves the remains of the church of Sant Miquel. The lignite mines and the astronomical observatory were relevant. It is worth noting, in this area, the prospecting and excavation work carried out at the archaeological site of Montlleó, which is an open-air settlement belonging to the Upper Palaeolithic.

Capdevila

On the outskirts of the neighborhood there is an iron cross, from where you can admire a beautiful panoramic view of La Cerdanya. There is also the parish church of Sant Serni de Prats, which was built towards the end of the 9th or beginning of the 10th century with a two-eyed belfry on the western façade. Urbanization of the Plan

In the geography of the municipal area, the residential area of the "El Pla" Urbanization stands out, which occupies an area of about 89 hectares. Born from the development of an urban project in 1965, it is mainly occupied as a second home area, but it also stands out with an industrial and hotel area.

Places of interest

Hermitage of San Salvador de Pedrianes: The first news that we have is from the 12th century when it was looted like other Cerdanian churches by the account Ramon Roger de Foix and the biscuento Arnau de Castellbó. Located in an enviable location, it commands some of the best views in the entire region.

Church of Sant Serni: Built on top of a previous one that was built towards the end of the 9th or beginning of the 10th century. In 1999 a new bell was christened.
