Alt Penedès

The Alt Penedès is an emblematic region of Catalonia, known worldwide for its extensive vineyards and the production of cava and high-quality wines. Located between the Mediterranean Sea and the mountains of Montserrat, it enjoys a mild climate ideal for growing vines, which extend across its fertile plain. The rolling landscape of vineyards and traditional farmhouses creates a picturesque and welcoming image.

The capital of the region, Vilafranca del Penedès, is a reference point in the world of wine and cava. Here you will find the Vinseum, the Museum of Wine Cultures of Catalonia, where you can learn about the long wine-making history of the region. In addition, Vilafranca is famous for its traditional festivals, especially the castells, as it is one of the most important cities in the world of castellers.

The architectural heritage of Alt Penedès is also remarkable. You cannot miss the Basilica of Santa María de Vilafranca, with its impressive Gothic style, or the Monastery of San Sebastián de los Gorgs, a Romanesque monument that takes us back to medieval times. It is also worth visiting the numerous modernist wineries, such as the Bodega Codorníu, the work of Puig and Cadafalch, where you can learn about the process of making cava.

The region is synonymous with wine tourism. Its renowned wineries open their doors to offer unique experiences, from wine tastings to tours of the vineyards. In addition, the Alt Penedès is a perfect place to enjoy local cuisine, where wine is paired with local products such as sausages, cheese and fresh vegetables.

Stay among the vineyards, enjoy the open-air music and wine festivals, and immerse yourself in the winemaking tradition and culture of Alt Penedès, a land that will offer you an unforgettable experience.
