Business tourism in Catalonia

Catalonia stands out for its strong economy, with a solid manufacturing industry and a tertiary sector in full development, where tourism occupies a prominent place. Business tourism is, in particular, one of the most important economic activities in the region.

Barcelona, as the main business tourism destination in Catalonia, offers first-class congress and convention centers, such as the Barcelona Fair that makes available the Montjuïc Site and the Gran Via Site located in l'Hospitalet de Llobregat and, On the other hand, there is the Barcelona International Convention Center (CCIB). These facilities, together with its rich cultural and leisure offer, make Barcelona an ideal city for holding business events. In addition, the city has the help of the Barcelona Convention Bureau for the promotion and organization of these events.

Other Catalan cities also play an important role in this sector. Girona, for example, offers an exceptional mix of modern and historical monuments, and is known for its calm and pleasant surroundings, it also makes available the Palau Firal, a large modern venue, inaugurated in 1989 for sector fairs and monographic exhibitions. Lleida stands out for its organizational capacity and its first-rate facilities, with a fair tradition that dates back to the year 1232, the capital of Segrià has hosted the Lleida Fair facilities since 1946. And Sitges, just 20 minutes from Barcelona, is another key destination, known for its uniqueness and internationally renowned conference centres.

The diversity of spaces available in Catalonia is one of its great advantages. Aside from traditional hotel rooms and conference rooms, there are unique locations such as Gothic cloisters, modernist castles, and wineries that serve as settings for professional meetings and special events. This demonstrates Catalonia's ability to offer originality and elegance in its business events.

In terms of accommodation, Catalonia has a wide hotel network, with many four and five star establishments that offer a high standard of quality and service.
