Bot, in the heart of the Terra Alta, culture, nature and greenways
The Terra Alta is one of the corners of Catalonia where an authentic rurality is best preserved. The causes are diverse as well as the disadvantages that this entails for the population with respect to other areas. But at the same time, it gives a very extensive potential for the development of tourist activities that respect the environment and that can improve the quality of life of its inhabitants. This is one of the reasons why we want you to come and meet us and let yourself be taken care of, but there are many others!
It is a region known for the stays of Picasso in Horta de San Juan where he consolidated cubism, for the disastrous consequences of the Battle of the Ebro, especially preserved in Corbera d'Ebre or for its generous wines produced in most villages and especially, in Bot, where Camping Terra Alta is located. The production of wine over the years involved the construction, in the early twentieth century, of a couple of modernist wineries: the Cooperativa Agrícola (Coop. Agr.) El Pinell de Brai, known as La Catedral del Vino, and that of Gandesa Coop.Agr. Both designed by the architect César Martinell, a disciple of Gaudí and Puig i Cadafalch.
