Roads of Monastery in Cervià de Ter Viladasens

Through this itinerary we travel the path that leads us from Cervià de Ter, where we can visit the spectacular monastery of Santa María, to the small town of Viladasens. The itinerary has a distance of 6.74 km, a vertical drop of 99 meters and moderate difficulty.

Let's go!

We started walking in the Plaza Nova de Raset, neighborhood of Cervià de Ter. On our left we have the great manor house of Can Santamaria. As a curiosity we will tell you that it is the place where he spent the nights of January 23 to 26, 1939, the poet Antonio Machado on his way to exile.

We continue up a path that looks more like a torrent to reach the Dalt neighborhood. Once we are on asphalt, we have to take a few meters on the right to take the dirt road that goes to the left.

We pass in front of the hermitage of San Roque, after a descent we will find a place often dammed and we cross the stream of Cinyanella. Right after we find a main road and follow it to the left. After about a kilometer, we leave a detour to the left that leads to the Bellver farmhouse and continue, with a slight descent and through the woods, until we find the remains of the mill located on the edge of the Cinyana stream. Start a small ascent of a wide road, pass by a farm side and we will have reached Viladasens.

If we want to take a walk, we will have to turn left towards the town where the first one we will find will be the cemetery.

r251_viladesens To continue the route, however, we have to leave the village of Viladasens behind and started down the track that first passes between crops and then makes a medium stretch of forest. Shortly after leaving the stretch of forest, we find the Viladasens road that must be crossed to continue the road that goes right in front of us and that turns to the right. At the first crossing where we can doubt, we must take the road on the right that goes to the edge of the Cinyana stream and that shortly after it allows us to cross it and reach the road that we had already crossed before.

Before us, passing the road, we go along the track, we leave a farm on our left and shortly after, we must turn right if we do not want to do the whole route again. By this point we will have passed, we will try not to mess too much, we will pass by the side of the hermitage of San Roque and we will be back to Raset.

This route, in some stretch, coincides with the layout of the Camino de Santiago. It is worth taking the walk to visit the town of Cervià de Ter, with the magnificent monastery of Santa María, the viewpoint of the Castle and the streets with medieval air that will transport you to other eras.
