come and live

Come and live, feel, savor, take care of yourself, relax, rediscover and fall in love with the beauty and uniqueness of each corner of Vallès Oriental. Enter and let yourself get lost in every corner of its 40 municipalities to rediscover from new perspectives a region with a range of activities as diverse as this one. A region with exceptional accessibility by private car, via the C-31 for those coming from Barcelona and via the AP-7, for those coming from the provinces of Girona, Lleida and Tarragona. And it is that in the Vallès, there are always places, stories, restaurants and routes waiting to be discovered, which becomes a good excuse to go on a weekend getaway or a day trip.

Nature

The Vallès Oriental presents a great variety of natural landscapes near Barcelona.

From the places of the low land, full of hills, small valleys and streams, in the most abrupt places of the highest peaks of Montseny . Both are suitable for cycling or getting lost on rural roads and trails, a very healthy way to get to know the country with your feet on the ground.

Thermalism

Since ancient times, La Garriga and Caldes de Montbui have known how to take advantage of the natural gift of thermal water. The Romans already discovered it and its traces can still be seen in the Roman villa of Can Terrers in La Garriga or in the thermal baths in the Plaza de la Font del Lleó in Caldes. Currently, the effectiveness of thermalism can be verified in the various spas that offer from the most advanced therapies to the rest of a long-awaited rest.

Modernism

The great bourgeoisie of Barcelona at the beginning of the 20th century made summertime fashionable. "A box in the Liceu and a tower in Cardedeu", it was said. Those families were looking for a corner in the open air in summer, in splendid mansions that they commissioned from renowned architects and that in the summer villas of the region ( Cardedeu, La Garriga, L' Ametlla, Granollers or Figaró-Mont m any ) also had a single name: Manel Joaquim Raspall, one of the pioneers of Catalan architectural modernism. The four towers that make up the island of Raspall de la Garriga are his most important work.

Gastronomy

The Vallès Oriental has always been a land of passage for those who moved through Catalonia. The permeability of Catalan culture has facilitated the contribution of products and techniques to its cuisine, a variation of culinary concepts that, with the novelties of our times, have configured a traditional -based cuisine full of brushstrokes of modernity. Coming from the most avant-garde chefs, they give each dish a new vision of cooking, adapted to the tastes and demands of today's people.

In the restaurants we always find the freshest and best selected products from the garden, with the crocheted bean as the star product. In addition, the production of quality food products such as cheeses, wines, sausages, honey or nuts, made in the same region, is entering with great force and gives added value to the gastronomy of our region.

All styles and trends come together in the kitchens of the establishments in the region. Therefore, for those who want to visit Vallès Oriental, in search of new gastronomic experiences, you cannot miss this magnificent compilation of the most representative restaurants, often also located in the best corners of the region.

For the most daring, the website also offers the possibility of being able to cook the best recipes of each chef at home.

We encourage you to visit the region through its best gastronomy, while also enjoying its landscape or other activities related to leisure and culture.

Sustainable tourism

The European Charter for Sustainable Tourism

The European Charter for Sustainable Tourism (CETS) is a recognition granted by the EUROPARC Federation and which certifies that a territory around a protected area has a sustainable tourism strategy drawn up in consensus with the agents of the territory.

The CETS is defined by the Europarc Federation itself as "a management tool that allows protected areas to develop tourism in a sustainable way".

It is, therefore, a work methodology, of voluntary implementation, which leads to defining and implementing a local strategy in favor of sustainable tourism and which is recognized by the Federation itself as a certification or seal of tourism sustainability.

Since 2011, the Montseny Natural Park and the municipalities in its immediate surroundings have been working under the CETS umbrella, complying with the tourism sustainability requirements in a natural park determined by the Europarc Federation.

Commitment to sustainability BIOSPHERE

The Biosphere Commitment to Sustainability is a badge that aims to promote good practices in sustainable management in the tourism sector. The County Council is the managing body in Vallès Oriental due to its implementation.

In order for the companies and services that want to join to distinguish themselves and renew their commitment, they must follow a joint work methodology and comply with a series of commitments that include attendance at face-to-face training and also compliance with mandatory and optional requirements for each sector.

The Biosphere Commitment to Sustainability is a program developed by the Barcelona Provincial Council and the Chamber of Commerce to guarantee the quality and sustainability of tourist services based on the Biosphere certification of the Responsible Tourism Institute. The ITR is an organization linked to UNESCO and a partner of the World Tourism Organization and the Global Sustainable Tourism Council. It is a pioneering certification, based on the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals integrated into the 2030 Agenda.

The good practices of this program refer to the following areas:

  1. Sustainable management.
  2. The conservation and enhancement of cultural heritage.
