As every year, during the month of August visits to the natural area of the Acequia Mayor begin. This year, however, it will be necessary to come with a mask, maintain social distance and bring your own observation binoculars.
The visit, suitable for all ages, includes a journey of about two kilometers that takes approximately two hours, during which the history of the place and its natural values are told, traces of animal activity are interpreted through the footprints, feathers, nests and food scraps, and birds are observed with binoculars and protected species from space are known.
The Acequia Mayor was built with the aim of draining the old ponds near the sea. Currently, it is an important space made up of vegetable communities of reed beds, wet meadows and reed beds, and also a fauna reservoir, which was declared a Plan of Spaces of Natural Interest (PEIN), in December 1992.
Visits, with a maximum of 10 people, must be booked in advance of the Vila-seca Municipal Tourist Board, on the phone 977 373 037 and take place on Saturdays and Sundays in August and September of the 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and from October to February on Sundays from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
