Terrassa Jazz Festival
The Jazz Festival in Terrassa has rescheduled from October 8 to October 31 after the suspension of the planned dates in the month of March due to Covidien-19.
Regarding the programming, the contest has recovered one of its headliners, Ray Lema, who will lead a concert in sextet format, in which he will present his latest album, Transcendance. And it has incorporated the Yonathan Avishai Trio, a consolidated project by the French-Israeli pianist Yonathan Avishai that for the occasion will be complemented by the Cuban sax Ariel Brínguez (from the Irakere jazz fusion band).
In the same way, this 39th autumn edition also makes a commitment to the Iberian jazz scene with a key name: Jorge Pardo, one of the promoters of flamenco jazz, who presents his new show "Trance". Also premiered in Catalonia is "Veinte Veinte", a quartet with Javier Colina (double bass), Josemi Carmona (flamenco guitar), Antonio Serrano (harmonica) and Borja Barrueta (drums), which, according to Carmona's words, "gathers creative concerns of the unusual year that we are living ". Perico Sambeat is the other great headliner that this time touches Terrassa with a proposal in octet format based on Frank Zappa's repertoire.
In the program, all the performances scheduled for the month of March starring musicians from the Catalan jazz scene have been recovered. And they have been reinforced with two new additions: the contemporary jazz and groove big band Smack Big Dab and the quintet led by the two young trombonists Alba Pujals and Rita Paye who develop the "Two Slides" project.
