A new edition of the international film festival returns. MónFILMAT recovers the space of the Casino and seeks to generate debate between the public and authors.
The author cinema where the landscape stops being a simple stage where the action takes place to become one more actor will return to Amposta and the Ebro Lands this summer in which will be already the third edition of the International Film and Landscape Festival mónFILMAT.
Promoted by Lo Patio - Tierras del Ebro Art Center, this new edition of mónFILMAT already has dates: from June 30 to July 8, two consecutive weekends in which a total of 10 feature films will be scheduled, in addition to a score of short films and the creations that will have been created in this year's edition of the Kino Tarragonik, a contest that is held in parallel to mónFILMAT in a symbiotic relationship that serves to reinforce each other. As for the short films, 25 out of a total of 303 from the world have been selected: Iran, Argentina, Canada, France, India, China, Brazil or Colombia.
Among the novelties of mónFILMAT 2018, it is worth mentioning the recovery of the Amposta Casino as a projection space, a historic building in the center of Amposta that, in the first edition of mónFILMAT, already showed itself as an optimal space to watch cinema in a collective way and to welcome the debate among the public. In fact, this is one of the aspects that we want to reinforce in this year's edition. Other novelties are the realization of a workshop of creation and musical edition for films within the Kino Tarragonik and a projection with wine tasting of Barbara Forés of the DO Terra Alta. Apart from the Casino, the other projection space will be the Plaza del Pati.
mónFILMAT was born in 2016 as the heir of the Landscape Actor exhibition promoted by Lo Patio, in 2014. Its objective is to bring author's cinema linked to the landscape to the public of Tierras del Ebro, a cinema often silenced by the commercial halls and which is hard to see in the territory. Making cinema a collective act and generating debate between the public and the author are other objectives. In this year's edition, the festival is co-directed by Xavier Miró, responsible for the programming of mónFILMAT in previous editions, and Aida Boix, director of Lo Pati.
