Robert Capa Conference in Aitona
A new edition of the Robert Capa Conference is coming to Aitona!
The initiative, promoted by the local council with the support of the Institute of Ilerdenses Studies (IEI) and the Provincial Council of Lleida, will offer various educational and informative activities over the course of a weekend on the figure and work of this outstanding photographer, as well as the work of professionals who, in one way or another, contribute to capturing historical events in images and words.
Robert Capa photographically documented the last offensive of the Republican army in Catalonia during the Spanish Civil War, which aimed to reach Fraga and facilitate the withdrawal of the troops that had been fighting on the Ebro since July 25. The attack took place at several points in La Serrabrisa and was harshly repelled by Francoist forces.
